Welput has received planning consent for a 573,000 sq ft office development to replace the House of Fraser at Southside, 105 Victoria Street, SW1E.
The fund’s proposals will see a 16-storey office block replace the department store.
Designs from Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates include over 45,000 sq ft of flexible leisure, retail and community use. There will be kiosks surrounding a public pathway called the Village Square, passing from Victoria Street to Howick Place.
Councillors lamented the loss of retail space, with over 100,000 sq ft cut, but were persuaded by the overall benefits of the scheme. They voted 3-1 in favour of the scheme at the meeting on 27 April.
The plans were lodged in August 2020. Welput has owned the site since 2005. BentallGreenOak is the fund manager for Welput.
