Insight Securities have applied jointly with Hill Samuel for planning permission for a £10m, 250,000-sq ft retail, business and motel scheme on a 60-acre site at Margam, next to junction 38 of the M4 at Port Talbot, West Glamorgan.
Letting agents are Oliver Liggins of London, and the site was introduced to Insight by Maunder Commercial of Hartley Whitney.
Insight also hold a 14-year option on Barrsbrook Farm, which occupies 41 acres of green belt land on Guildford Road (A320) near Chertsey, Surrey, within two miles of Junction 11 on the M25, and have applied for outline planning permission for a mixed-use scheme. They propose 80,000 sq ft of retail, with a 10,000-sq ft garden centre, a leisure centre including a swimming pool and sports hall, along with a 45-bed hotel. The existing farmhouse would be incorporated into the hotel.
The developers are currently talking to leisure operators and will release development costs when the operator is nominated.
