The Welsh Development Agency (WDA) has been granted £5.6m to secure the last 50 acres (20ha) of land needed to complete Swansea’s Port Tawe Innovation Village.
Port Tawe Innovation Village is the flagship scheme of the WDA’s regeneration of the Swansea’s Prince of Wales dock area.
The money, to be spent in this financial year, has been allocated as part of the devolved Welsh government’s £15bn A Winning Wales economic strategy, unveiled yesterday by First Minister Rhodri Morgan.
It comes on top of the £195m alread granted to the WDA by the devolved government in this financial year.
In the next financial year, the devolved government will give the WDA 3.6% more, taking its annual budget to £202m.
