The first scale-model of the new £750m Wembley Stadium, exclusively revealed in EGi News and this Saturday’s Estates Gazette, will be shown to delegates at next week’s MIPIM exhibition in Cannes.
On 7 February, work began to demolish Wembley Stadium’s legendary Twin Towers, marking the end of an era but “the beginning of a brilliant new one”, according to joint designer HOK Sport+Venue+Event.
It said the new stadium “will be the first of a new generation of sports stadia, with facilities unparalleled anywhere in the world”.
The 90,000-seat stadium will include a partly retractable roof, which can be closed within 15 minutes.
It is being designed by the World Stadium Team, a jv between HOK and Foster & Partners.
There will be more than 2,000 toilets and 478 food service points.
