London is poised to win British sport’s biggest prize this week. Wembley will be crowned as the nation’s sporting capital with the development of a £100m sporting stadium to seat 80,000 spectators.
The decision will comes as a blow to rivals, Manchester. The blow could be softened by lottery money which will fund a slightly smaller stadium to built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
