Wendy’s wants 400 UK burger joints

Wendy’s is preparing for a second assault on the UK, with plans to open 400 burger bars.

The US chain returned to the UK last summer, opening 10 dine-in restaurants and 15 delivery-only kitchens, which are franchised. Two more venues, in Uxbridge and Kingston, will be opened by the end of the year.

It now believes it could comfortably reach 300 to 400 restaurants over the next few years.

Wendy’s previously pulled out of the UK in 2001, after high property costs made the operation unviable.
