West Midlands held back by image problems

The West Midlands image as a metal-bashing area is hindering attempts to find high-tech investors, according to a report on inward investment in the region.

The stereotyping as a region of traditional manufacturing means potential investors are avoiding the area, says the report prepared for the West Midlands Development Agency. It also warns that potential investors might be more tempted by the newly devolved Scotland and Wales.
