Belfast developer McAleer & Rushe, in partnership with the International Centre for Life, has unveiled plans for the £70m Westgate development in Newcastle. The developer has won consent to transform the Cattle Market site into a 325,000 sq ft (30,200m2) mixed-use scheme, anchored by a Jury’s Inn hotel. The development will include more than 130,000 sq ft (12,100m2) of offices; 75 flats and restaurants. The scheme will be developed in partnership with the ICL. Completion is due in 2003.
