Westlakes Properties has unveiled plans to transform the Westlakes Science & Technology Park near Whitehaven, Cumbria, into one of the top-10 science parks in the UK. The project will see the 15.3ha (38-acre) Westlakes park site expand to 51ha (126 acres).
The14.1ha (35-acre) first phase of the expansion will comprise eleven “low-density” plots. The asking rent is £7-£8 per sq ft (£75-£86 per sq m) with an additional £3 per sq ft (£32 per sq m) service charge.
Existing tenants at the site include Allott & Lomax, WS Atkins, Rolls-Royce, React and Computer Science Corporation.
The West Cumbria Development Fund, the North West Development Agency and the European Regional Development Fund have all contributed finance to the project.
