Westminster approves council-led care home scheme

Westminster’s planning committee has approved the council’s plans for the redevelopment of a care home in Maida Vale, NW6, with 65 extra-care beds and 22 affordable homes.

The scheme will rise to six storeys, replacing the existing 42-bed Carlton Dene Residential Care Home and Peebles House.

Carlton Dene was built in the 1960s and is in need of significant investment to maintain ongoing use, including major works to the heating system and balconies.

In a planning statement lodged last December, the council said it “has reached the end of its economic life.”
