Westminster council has blocked a major West End mixed-use scheme this week, because it did not provide enough affordable housing.
Grainger Trust’s plans to redevelop Townsend House and Emmanuel House, SW1, as a mixed-use development, were rejected because they fell short of the Westminster UDP requirement of 25% affordable housing.
The plans comprised 12,540 sq m (135,000 sq ft) of offices and 20 private flats, but only six social housing units.
