Westminster City Council has chosen a preferred joint venture partner for the first phase of its £571m Church Street regeneration masterplan.
Mount Anvil has been selected to help bring forward phase one of the development, which has a GDV of around £275m.
The selection is set to be decided on by the council on 29 February.
If approved, the site will deliver 429 new homes near Edgware Road, a new library, fresh public realm and improved market infrastructure.
Some 171 homes will be for social rent, including the reprovision of 98 that were existing social rent properties. Around half of the new homes will be marketed as affordable.
The project will mark the start of the borough’s largest regeneration scheme, which is set to span a further two phases and will deliver up to 1,120 new homes and community facilities.
All three sites were granted planning approval in June 2023.
Matt Noble, cabinet member for regeneration and renters from Westminster City Council, said: “We have set out on our pledge to deliver a fairer Westminster with our plans to improve the Church Street neighbourhood and to create new opportunities for local people. Moving forward in a joint venture partnership means we can now take a further step towards realising this ambition.”
