Westminster planners back Queensway Parade redevelopment

Plans to redevelop Queensway Parade in Bayswater, W2, as a residential-led mixed-use scheme have been recommended for approval in a report to Westminster City Council ahead of a planning meeting next week.

Developer Mark has proposed two seven-storey buildings featuring shops, offices and homes on the one-acre site opposite its £1bn redevelopment of the Grade II listed former Whiteley’s department store.

The scheme includes demolishing 114-150 Queensway and 97-113 Inverness Terrace to provide 120,000 sq ft of office space, 32 one to four-bedroom homes, 35% of which would be affordable, and 11 new shops providing 24,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant space.

The development would create a new high street along with Mark’s Whiteleys shopping centre scheme.

The Queensway Parade and Whiteley’s schemes have been designed by Foster + Partners.
