WeWork appoints C&W to fill 400,000 sq ft

WeWork has appointed Cushman & Wakefield to find occupiers for around 400,000 sq ft of London workspace it has recently let.

C&W has been instructed exclusively to fill WeWork’s 280,000 sq ft location at Almacantar’s Two Southbank Place, SE1, and its 110,000 sq ft City workspace at Aermont Capital’s One Poultry, EC2.

The deal represents the latest stage of evolution for the co-working giant, which is understood to be offering whole floors to businesses at the new locations.

WeWork’s rapid expansion means its London take-up now totals more than 2.6m sq ft, making it the largest non-government occupier in London.

It comes after WeWork moved to sweeten the agency community in 2016 by offering higher cash incentives for recommending clients to its co-working space.

Under the programme, agents were paid 10% of the membership fee for the first 12 months upfront, followed by 2% of the membership fee for up to 36 months. Agents also get a commission when a client expands.

WeWork will continue to offer the same incentives to agents representing tenants that decide to take space in One Poultry and Two Southbank Place.

A WeWork spokesman said: “As we continue to grow, we’re always looking at innovative ways to expand our vibrant community here in London.

“One of these methods is through partnering with agents in order to offer them the exclusive opportunity to fill specific buildings, and these agreements will run in tandem with our existing sales processes.”
