WeWork delays publishing annual report

Troubled co-working company WeWork has delayed the publication of its annual report as it searches for a new auditor and continues to work through its Chapter 11 bankruptcy process in North America.

In a filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said it would be unable to file the annual 10-K report on time “without unreasonable effort or expense”.

It said: “The company has determined that it is unable to file its Form 10-K within the prescribed time period without unreasonable effort or expense due to the resignation of the registrant’s independent registered public accounting firm on November 9, 2023. The registrant is in the process of engaging a new independent registered public accounting firm, but until a new firm is engaged and the audit is performed, the filing of the Form 10-K will be delayed, which delay could not be eliminated by the registrant without unreasonable effort and expense.”

EY quit as the company’s auditor shortly after WeWork entered bankruptcy protection. WeWork said at the time that there was “no dispute” between the two parties.
