WeWork in talks over Holborn lease

WeWork is in talks with the landlord over its occupation of an office block on the edge of the City of London.

A source close to the co-working company said “conversations with the landlord are ongoing” at the Deka Immobilien-owned The Cursitor at 38 Chancery Lane, WC2, in which it has five floors on a 20-year lease signed in 2017.

The building was open when EG visited on Thursday 18 January, but no longer appeared in a list of London locations on WeWork’s website. Internet search results for the office redirected to WeWork’s general London page. WeWork has previously said this can happen when a building is so busy that no further bookings can be made.

A spokesperson for Deka said the company has an agreed lease with WeWork.

Last September, ahead of the US group filing for bankruptcy protection, WeWork said it would attempt to renegotiate almost all of its leases globally.
