WeWork recommits to flagship Canary Wharf location
Flex operator WeWork has affirmed its commitment to its flagship location in the heart of Canary Wharf, despite concerns about the submarket’s future in the wake of changing demand for office space.
The company will continue to operate its 286,000 sq ft location at 30 Churchill Place, E14, where it has been since 2019, following an agreement with landlord the European Medicines Agency.
Offices at the premises will soon be accompanied by a 14,500 sq ft indoor golf experience called Pitch from January 2025, which will come with 11 bays, two bars, a retail store and a restaurant.

Kevin Powers, head of real estate for the UK and Ireland at WeWork, said: “This move ensures that our members here, and across our entire London portfolio, continue to enjoy the signature WeWork experience that they have come to know and love.”
The decision comes despite worries about demand for flex space at Canary Wharf. An analysis of more than 50,000 enquiries over the past five years by flex office platform Free Office Finder showed that searches for space in the area are down by 60% since the period before the coronavirus pandemic.
Powers, however, expressed confidence in the move: “We are thrilled to have reached an agreement with our landlord, the European Medicines Agency, enabling us to maintain our full presence at this iconic location, where occupancy remains strong.”
