Flex office operator WeWork has seen bookings at its London sites close to the Elizabeth Line outperform other locations in the capital.
The company’s September on-demand bookings, its pay-as-you-go membership option, rose by 24% London-wide and by 79% along the Elizabeth Line, year-on-year.
The new figures demonstrate the “importance of convenient, well-positioned locations, as workers prioritise simple commutes”, said Luke Armstrong, WeWork’s head of international sales.
He added: “The significant rise in on-demand bookings across London year-over-year reflects a notable trend: more and more professionals are opting to work from high-quality office spaces that deliver an enhanced work experience, rather than from home. This shift signals that the office is increasingly winning the return-to-office debate.”
The company’s recent survey of 500 business decision-makers from the US and the UK found that 86% of respondents expect the office to become more important to profitability and organisational culture over the next five years.
Even now, 83% of leaders said the office is already more important to their bottom line and profitability than it was five years ago.
Of those companies responding with teams fully in-office, 81% saw a positive improvement on recruiting, staff retention and organisational culture compared to 74% of hybrid and 67% of remote companies.
