Adam Neumann’s former chief of staff is launching a class action suit against WeWork and its co-founder for discriminating against women.
Medina Bardhi, who joined WeWork as Neumann’s chief of staff in 2014, has asked the US Equal Employment Opportunities Commission to bring a class action against the company on behalf of herself and “similarly situated female employees”.
She claims that a freewheeling culture of drink and drugs created a “sexually aggressive” work environment at the New York HQ.
Bardhi says she was terminated on October 2nd this year, having been replaced by a male chief of staff while she was on maternity leave and then not given her job back when she returned.
In a separate lawsuit, filed with the New York Supreme Court, former WeWork senior vice-president Lisa Bridges is alleging glaring pay disparities.
WeWork disputes all allegations.
