The former head of real estate for the UK, Ireland, Middle East and Africa at WeWork has started a new flexible office business.
David Kaiser left WeWork last December. He had joined the company in 2017 as a director in the real estate team and became head of real estate for the UK and Ireland in 2018, taking on the Middle East and Africa a year later.
Kaiser has now launched Oneder alongside Dan Cohen, who previously set up flex operator Purpose Group. The company will target businesses in the creative industries, with its website claiming members will be offered “a space that gives a shit about them”.
In a social media post, Cohen said the company’s first site, set to open next month at 5-6 Cranwood Street in Shoreditch, EC1, will target content creators, offering hot-desking space and meeting rooms as well as on-site studios for podcasts, photography and video, and event space for up to 100 people. Studios can be booked by the hour, while membership contracts are for one, three or 12 months.
“Workspaces for creatives suck,” the team said on its website. “Frankly they don’t exist because most workspaces are made to suit all industries but master none. There is no workspace dedicated to a creative’s pretty unique, and daily changing, set of needs, wants and wishes.”
