Weatherall Green & Smith this week denied persistent rumours that the firm is in financial difficulties.
David Richardson, partner in charge of Weatheralls’ Leeds office, said that talk of an extraordinary meeting of the firm’s partners last Thursday was unfounded – the event was a routine partners’ conference. He added: “We are trading profitably and operating within our normal banking arrangements.”
At the same time he denied long-standing rumours that the company was in merger talks with Procord.
Last month Weatheralls’ financier, National Westminster, appointed the company to market space in the NatWest Tower, EC2. The move fuelled rumours that the bank was worried enough about the firm’s balance sheet to bolster business itself.
The firm is locked in a court battle with Hambro Leasing over the alleged negligent valuation of the Londonderry Hotel, Park Lane, W1.
