Tilbury Phoenix has kickstarted its Paisley Leisure Park, part of the Phoenix site on the edge of Glasgow, by signing up Whitbread as its first operator.
The pub and restaurant chain has paid £2.5m for 1ha (2.5 acres) on which it plans to build a 760 sq m (8,200 sq ft) Brewers Fayre pub and a 40-bedroom Travel Inn hotel. Renfrewshire Council has just granted consent for the scheme, allowing the deal to go ahead.
Phoenix is Scotland’s largest mixed use scheme, covering a 125ha (300 acre) site, near Glasgow International Airport. Other leisure operators already in occupation on the rest of the scheme include Showcase Cinemas and Gala Bingo.
DTZ Debenham Thorpe acted for Tilbury Phoenix and Nick Farrell & Co acted for Whitbread.
