Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants has promoted its property head, Mark Anderson, to managing director of commercial and property.
Whitbread said the appointment was in recognition of Anderson’s work expanding the Premier Inn business and the wider family of brands, including Beefeater Grill and Brewers Fayre.
Anderson joined Whitbread in 2006 as group estates director and was made commercial and property director in 2008. In the past five years, he has driven Premier Inn’s growth agenda and has secured more than 20,000 new rooms in some 200 sites – equivalent to around 40% of Premier Inn’s total current room stock.
He has also executed three sale and leaseback portfolio transactions during the past five years.
Patrick Dempsey, managing director of Whitbread, said: “We have exciting plans to grow our business over the coming years to reach our milestone of 65,000 rooms and to build a best-in-class restaurant business. As MD for commercial and property, Mark will be instrumental in delivering these plans and his promotion is well earned.”
Anderson added: “Looking to the future, I want to push on and deliver more great sites and do more great deals as we actively manage our portfolio and continue setting the standard for the budget hotel sector.”
