Whole Foods Market is to open a new store in the former Thai restaurant Blue Elephant at 2-6 Fulham Broadway, SW6.
The US organic chain has agreed a 25-year lease with Romulus Construction for 22,000 sq ft, comprising ground, basement and first floors. The store is scheduled to open in late 2012 or early 2013.
Whole Foods Market recently announced other new stores in Richmond, Surrey, and Glasgow. It has a flagship store on High Street Kensington in London, as well as four other outlets.
Luke Hargreaves, central London retail partner at Cushman & Wakefield, which advised Romulus Construction, said: “This is a great boost for Fulham, one of London’s most affluent areas. Investment in the redevelopment of this key site will benefit the rest of the Broadway, improving the range and quality of shops on offer.”
