A professor of the “built environment” argues the case for more money to be spent on the London Underground in The Guardian
He says there is a danger of London becoming a “doughnut city” if it doesn’t invest in transport. He explains this phrase means the centre will become empty, dangerous and dirty. Residents will move to a safer and securer environment in the outer ring.
The professor says that more investment is needed and that a £1.5bn injection would prove a bargain.
