Wilson Bowden has unveiled its plans to transform a vacant site in the heart of Derby’s Cathedral Quarter into a £45m mixed-use scheme.
The developer plans to turn the derelict former police station and magistrate’s court on Full Street into an office-led scheme with flats and retail.
Plans include 95,000 sq ft of offices, 125 flats, 20,000 sq ft of retail and four restaurants. The residential element will front the River Derwent and Cathedral Green.
The project will be part new-build and part refurbishment of the existing buildings. Of the 125 apartments, 51 will be in the listed magistrates’ court, while the remaining 74 will be new-build flats.
Work on the scheme will start on site next spring with completion due in summer 2010.
The site has lain vacant since Wilson Bowden acquired it three years ago for £4.25m.
WB has worked with Derby City Council and Derby Cityscape on the project.
The letting agent is Fisher Hargreaves Proctor.
