Administrators at Ernst & Young have sold von Essen hotel Bishopstrow House near Warminster in Wiltshire to Longleat Enterprises.
It follows the sale of the Samling in the Lake District to private buyers and Amberley Castle, Buckland Manor, Lower Slaughter Manor and Washbourne Court to Andrew Brownsword’s Bath Priory.
As revealed by Estates Gazette, administrators from Ernst & Young appointed Christie + Co to market the collection of 27 country house hotels at the beginning of June.
The portfolio includes a number of historic hotels, such as Cliveden in Berkshire, the Royal Crescent in Bath, as well as a hotel development, Thorn Island Battery Fort, which occupies an island off the Pembrokeshire coast.
Angela Swarbrick, joint administrator at Ernst & Young, said: “The high interest in the von Essen Hotels portfolio is translating into completed transactions and we expect to announce further sales shortly.”
