The Greater London Authority has called in the planning application for a new football stadium for AFC Wimbledon in Plough Lane, SW19, according to mayor Boris Johnson.

The football club wants to redevelop the greyhound stadium site, but the GLA will now take control of the decision.

This means that the consultation process will have to start again before a decision is made later this year.

AFC Wimbledon chief executive Erik Samuelson said that although the call-in is disappointing, he is hopeful it means only a delay for the plans.
