WiredScore, the US company which ranks buildings on connectivity, has signed up eight Manchester landlords, covering around 4m sq ft, in the company’s first UK venture outside of London.
Peel, Property Alliance Group, Legal & General, Schroders, CBRE GI, Hermes Investment Management, Kennedy Wilson and Helical now have buildings in the database.
William Newton, WiredScore UK director, said Manchester has the “potential to be a leading global capital of technology”.
A YouGov report commissioned by WiredScore, which surveyed 306 technology professionals in the North of England, found that a third thought more businesses would be attracted to the city if landlords were able to offer improved connectivity, as well as more co-working spaces.
Key numbers from WiredScore’s YouGov report
- 32% say improved connectivity is needed to make Manchester more attractive
- 23% say they would like to see more shared office space
- 10% says poor connectivity is putting off investors
