Shoppers are a generous bunch. Coins dredged up from the wishing pool at The Centre MK’s Land of Enchanted Dreams Christmas display were recently dried, sorted, counted and came to £11,331.11.
Volunteers from Age UK Milton Keynes, John Lewis, Accenture and Bucks Fire & Rescue service at Great Holm tallied up the 188,028 coins, including 80,749 one-pence coins, 46,981 two-pence coins and 24,542 five-pence coins. The money will go to Age UK Milton Keynes, which helps the elderly live independently.
