The majority of high street bank branches that have closed since 2012 are still sitting empty as landlords struggle to find new tenants, according to research.
In the past seven years 2,145 high street branches have closed, leaving only 4,822 bricks-and-mortar banks in Britain, the Local Data Company has found. Some of the closed banks have been converted into retail units, but 60 per cent, or 1,292, remain vacant.
