Bradford-based supermarket group Wm Morrison is to embark on a £100m expansion programme. The group will open stores in Sunderland, Northampton, Sheffield and Cheadle Heath, Cheshire. It will also refurbish nine others.
Morrison is also building a distribution centre at Northwich, Cheshire. In addition it is to build a new frozen food depot at its Wakefield distribution centre in West Yorkshire. The chain announced the move yesterday along with pre-tax profits for the half year of £55.2m, 8% up on last year.
