Woolwich Arsenal fired up after planning nod

Berkeley has been given the go-ahead for its revised masterplan at the Royal Arsenal scheme in Woolwich, SE18.

The revised plans comprise 3,700 homes – 1,200 more than originally proposed. They were altered to incorporate Woolwich Crossrail station, and to include extra land acquired by Berkeley.

There will also be 25% affordable housing, instead of 35% in the original consent – 48 homes less.

The plans include 270,000 sq ft of offices and shops, a 120-bedroom hotel and a 3.5-acre park.

The original consent for the scheme was given consent in August 2006 and the revised plan was lodged in May.
