Woolworths downgrades Big W size spec

Woolworths is still looking for sites for its Big W format but it has downgraded the size, say “retail sources”, quoted in The Times.

The retailer is looking at sites of around 50,000 sq ft (4,645 sq m) instead of 70,000 sq ft-80,000sq ft (6,503 sq m-7,432 sq m).

Analysts think the operator is likely to split off sections of its largest Big Ws to sell to rivals.
