Work begins next month on building the Jerwood Centre in Grasmere, Cumbria.
The £3m building will house priceless artefacts owned by the Wordsworth Trust.
The Heritage Lottery Fund, the Jerwood Foundation and the European Regional Development Fund are providing the money.
