Workspace Group (formerly London Industrial), the property company which specialises in small business units, has bought 12,184 sq m (131,150 sq ft) of space in Union Street, between Waterloo and London Bridge Stations, London SE1.
The £4.1m purchase from Ellangowan Properties marks a return to the area for Workspace which recently sold the nearby Southbank Bridge Office Village.
“The acquisition restores our presence in the up-and-coming South Bank area,” says chairman Alan Porter.
The main property is an Edwardian former sorting office at 1-10 Union Street which has a basement, ground and two upper floors. Workspace plans to refurbish the building and create small business units within the 10,914 sqm (117,480 sq ft). Three vacant sites on the north side of the street can provide a further 1,270 sqm (13,670 sq ft).
