Workspace hires former Schroders boss as non-exec

Flexible office company Workspace Group has appointed Schroders’ former global head of real estate as a non-executive director.

Duncan Owen has more than 30 years’ experience, having worked as chief executive of Invista Real Estate Investment Management, before taking the job at Schroders, which he stepped down from at the end of last year.

He now acts as a special adviser to Schroders, while also chairing the Church Commissioners’ property investment committee.

Owen’s appointment at Workspace comes after the group said demand for flexible offices had risen to pre-pandemic levels.

The London-focused group said it received an average of 947 enquiries per month in the three months to June 2021, up from 506 last year.

Owen will join the company’s audit and nominations committees, and his role as NED was effective from 22 July.

Workspace chair Stephen Hubbard said: “Duncan brings a wealth of experience in the real estate sector, including a deep understanding of the central London office sector, and I am looking forward to working with him to further progress the company’s strategy.”
