Workspace JV gets all clear for Big Brother site scheme

Workspace Group and Countryside Properties subsidiary Copthorn Homes have been given the green light for a residential scheme on the former site of Channel 4s Big Brother house in Bow, east London.

The scheme, which has outline planning permission and is subject to a section 106 agreement, will comprise 47 flats. Workspace also plans to develop 600,000 sq ft of commercial space on the Three Mills Film Studios site.

Harry Platt, Workspaces chief executive, said: “There is an increasing trend amongst local planners who are keen to encourage brownfield, mixed-use, sustainable developments with a blend of residential and commercial uses. This is exactly the model that we are creating at Three Mills.”

Work on the 0.8-acre (0.34ha) site is due to begin in May.
