RWC is ‘New Zealand’s to lose’

AUDIO: The Rugby World Cup is New Zealand’s to lose, said All-Black rugby legend and former number 8 Zinzan Brooke when he sat down with Estates Gazette at Twickenham to discuss England’s hopes for success this year. Brooke said that the England team would need to keep a close eye on Fiji, a strong team with “at least one win in them”.

He added that he had not seen enough evidence to pick a clear favourite between England, Wales or Australia to predict which would emerge from the infamous “pool of death”. He said that he hoped the matches themselves overrode any possible controversy throughout this year’s tournament.

“I want the supporters and viewers to remember the players of each particular game. I don’t want a referee to feature in your memory,” he said. “I want the game to be the dominant force.”
