WorldRemit triples rent with SW1 move

62-Buckingham-Gate-SW1-THUMB.jpegMoney transfer service WorldRemit is under offer to lease 25,000 sq ft at Land Securities’ 62 Buckingham Gate, SW1.

The rapidly expanding tech firm is the first office tenant in more than a year to sign at the 278,469 sq ft, 11-storey building, designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects.

The fintech start-up is moving from Pirbright Holding’s Kensington Centre at 66 Hammersmith Road, W14, where it occupies 4,500 sq ft paying £25 per sq ft.

The move is the latest in a wave of tech occupiers taking space at mainstream grade-A offices.

Quoting rents at 62 Buckingham Gate are in excess of £70 per sq ft.

The building, which is at the heart of LandSec’s £2bn regeneration of Victoria, was completed in 2013 and is let to tenants including Rolls-Royce, World Fuel Services Europe and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The latest deal leaves around 50,000 sq ft of office space in the building unlet.

The retail elements are fully let to Curzon Cinema, Benugo, Leon and All Bar One.

Hanover Green acted for WorldRemit; JLL and Knight Frank advised Land Securities.
