The Financial Times reports how demand for commercial property is soaring around the world in a special property supplement on commercial markets worldwide.
Investors in the UK market made a total rate of return of 19% last year but few experts are predicting the same in 2005. Scottish Widows Investment Partnership says UK property will deliver double figure total returns of 10.5% this year before steadying at an average of 7%-8% in the next four years.
Others predict total returns of about 9% next year.
One of the articles talks about the rise of the “Big Shed” warehouse for retail chains. It notes Brixton is about to experiment with multi-storey warehouse buildings in London.
A case study of Multiplex, whose decisive move into the UK took many by surprise, is included, and a feature on mixed-use developments in the UK.
