Would deal with Ocado help M&S deliver growth?

Steve Rowe, chief executive of Marks & Spencer, is fond of saying the retailer has not missed out by not having an online food delivery service.

For many years he was right, as M&S enjoyed enviable growth thanks to steady footfall to its foodhalls and Simply Food convenience stores.

However, it is clear Mr Rowe’s view had to change as more shoppers want to buy everything online, including their evening meal or weekend party food.
