The three-and-a-half month trial into the riot which destroyed the £100m flagship Yarl’s Wood, in Berkshire came to an end yesterday having raised serious questions about the government’s plans to develop centres to house asylum seekers.
The riot has provoked concerns that immigration centres may no longer be able to get insurance after insurers of Group 4, which managed the centres, sued the Bedfordshire Police Authority for around £97m over the damage.
