Morrison Merlin has secured its first pub operator for the Great Northern scheme in central Manchester in a deal with Yates which will see the bar chain taking its biggest unit so far, writes Mark Simmons.
Yates has signed up for 1,394m2 (15,000 sq ft) on a 25-year lease at an annual rent of around £150,000 pa. The venue, to be known as the Screenwall Cafe, is due to open next May.
The developers are also close to a deal with another major pub operator for a 1,115m2 (12,000 sq ft) pavilion pub.
Morrison Merlin plans a total of 46,450m2 (500,000 sq ft) of retail, leisure and offices at Great Northern.
