York car showroom to become 234-bed PBSA scheme

Danehurst Developments has lodged proposals for a purpose-built student accommodation scheme in York city centre.

The 0.7-acre site was most recently used as a Mazda car showroom, with associated car parking, car repairs service and a car wash located to the rear.

The developer has proposed to turn the single-storey building into a four to five storey block providing 234 student homes, split into clusters and studios.

The designs were prepared by Jefferson Sheard Architects.

The building is targeting BREEAM Excellent certification.

The scheme sits within York’s urban area, outside of the City Walls, and forms a part of a wider regeneration site.
