Boutique hotel company The Zetter Group is to open its first branch outside London at Allied London’s London Road Fire Station in Manchester.
The size of the hotel has yet to be confirmed but existing Zetter Group outlets have between 13 and 69 bedrooms.
Zetter Group was founded in 2003 by Mark Sainsbury and Michael Benyan, the duo behind the award-winning Moro restaurant in Clerkenwell, EC1.
It currently operates three boutique hotels which are all in London, including The Zetter Hotel, EC1, The Zetter Townhouse, EC1, and The Zetter Townhouse, W1.
The hotel group will anchor London Road Fire Station, which was bought vacant by Allied London in November as a mixed-use development opportunity.
The Zetter Group’s director Michael Benyan said: “We are delighted to have finally found the perfect opportunity to open a Zetter property in Manchester.
“London Road is an iconic building and a real gift for us as hoteliers. We want to preserve the existing beauty and magic of the building and use it to help create a unique experience for our guests.”
The Zetter Group will team up with interior designers Russell Sage Studios to deliver their vision for the hotel.
Allied London will submit a planning application for the building in the autumn. Plans also include a cocktail bar, spa and co-working space over five floors.
