A £100m redevelopment of Dudley Zoo and Castle in the West Midlands has been scrapped by the local council and its development partner, St Modwen. The pair got consent for the project – which was to comprise a 66ft rainforest dome, 43 shops and 65 homes – in March 2007. Work on the scheme never started and Dudley council has now decided not to renew its agreement with St Modwen. The local authority said that the expiry “presented a natural opportunity to review the current situation”.
