Shed slide steepens

Industrial occupier confidence went into steep decline in the first half of 2016 with take-up falling by a quarter on H1 2015 to 62m sq ft. The market had already seen a moderate dip in the first half of 2015 when the amount of industrial space taken slipped
by 3%.

East of England saw the biggest drop, followed closely by the North West and Wales, with just Yorkshire and Humberside in the black, registering a 13% rise on the same period last year.

More than three years’ worth of space is empty at present take-up levels, but developers have eased off, with availability across the country dropping to 425m sq ft at the end of June from 500m sq ft at the start of the year. For further analysis of the numbers, click here
